For our recommendation for best contractor table saw, we have chosen the Sawstop CNS175 SFA30 with 1-3/4 Horsepower. This is a high performance, top of the range contractor saw, with some say even rivalling the performance of top-ranked hybrid saws. Read our Sawstop CNS175-SFA30 review and you will see it truly is an excellent saw but the icing on the cake is without doubt the outstanding safety features. If you are planning to use this a lot, or if you have any kids running around, you will want the peace of mind offered by this table saw. It has a built in safety brake that automatically detects any hand or finger contact with the sawblade, instantly stopping and retracting the blade. This flesh-sensing technology might just prove the difference between losing a finger and just having a cut. I wish this was standard in all table saws!

The first thing you will notice when this arrives is that the assembly instructions are excellent – very easy to follow (not always the case with power tools!). Many people put this together themselves and I’m sure you can too. The design and construction of the saw are very professional. Every fits together perfectly and you get a sense of the quality of the parts as you handle them. Sawstop also throw in a few spare bits and pieces in the kit (bolts etc.) which is a nice touch.

Once up and running you will very impressed with the cut. It has a very smooth run and cut, and all the dust is collected through a 4″ port – as good dust collection as you will see in a table saw. The fence works absolutely perfectly. It runs quietly, and you will find the paddle for turning off the blade well placed and useful. Changing the guard and riving knife is very quick and easy.

After all this you’ll be pleased to hear that the cuts are of a high standard. The Sawstop blade goes through soft woods as if they aren’t even there! You can do rips and cross cuts with a variety of harder woods too and it works like a charm every time. I have read a few reviews of people finding even better performance when they upgrade from stamped steel wings to cast iron wings. You might have no issues with the wings as they come, but it is good to know there are several upgrade options available if you wish to make changes.

Sawstop CNS175-SFA30 Review: This saw costs $1,749 – not the most expensive, nor the cheapest contractor saw on the market, but a price you should be more than happy to pay for the quality of work and especially the outstanding safety features.
